These are some shots from the Hanshin department store food floor that I wrote about earlier...
Melon1 - Yes, that's a $35.00 watermelon.
Melon2 - How about a pair of canteloupes for $150.00?
Melon3 - At $250.00, these must really be special. In all fairness, I have to point out that they're absolutely perfect and blemish free.
Fish - When was the last time you saw a spread like this at a grocery store? The brown things on the right are eel. Apparently it's an Osaka favorite.
Fishies1 - Remember those little, bitty fish munchies I wrote about?
Fishies2 - Here's a whole display of them.
Fishies3 - And a detail for the really curious.
FlatShrimp1 - Don't you get that craving now and again for a pressed shrimp?
FlatShrimp2 - This shot is in case you doubt how really flat they are.
Seaweed - Honey, would you pick up some seaweed while you're out?
Sushi - And if you're in the mood for grocery-store sushi, there's plenty of that.
Pickles - I think these are various pickles. Notice that variety of colors (OK, so maybe I should have cranked up the saturation).
I took these walking around one of the local night districts.
Legs - This is in the underground subway station complex. It's basically a place to grab a beer and a snack (not to go) on the way home.
Pharmacy - This is a typical evening crowd at a drugstore (also in the underground).
Shoes - You're not anybody if you don't have Frankenstein shoes.
Hankyu - This is in a mall inside the Hanky train station.
Walkway - Another covered retail section. I think it's called a "sho-ten".
Dragon1 - They're serious about their dragon-fronted restaurants here.
Dragon2 - Or maybe it's a chain?
Dragon3 - Here's another one within 100 yards of the other two.
Street - This is just a typical street view.
Pachinko1 - Pachinko parlors galore!
Pachinko2 - Another row of the same place.
Pachinko3 - This place is much bigger.
These were on the way back to the hotel.
Yakotori - There are these portable food stands all over the place. This one's a bit more elaborate than most, with tables and everything. Typically there would just be chairs around a bar surrounding a counter surrounding a grill.
Bldg - This a building nearby. Yes, that's a large globe stuck to the wall inside an atrium.
